Our client is currently recruiting for their Housebuilding division which develops sites that provide private and affordable housing, on land owned or controlled by the Group. They are one of the U.K’s leading residential developers and have received more than 340 awards for design and sustainability excellence since 2000. Ranging from town houses through to high rise apartment block our client is at the forefront of the U.K’s residential market.


About the role:

Our client is currently looking for an ambitious Trainee Quantity Surveyor to work on a number of projects that are live and upcoming.


Key responsibilities:

  • Cost Planning
  • Preparing various tender packages and the subsequent analysis and selection/tender recommendation process
  • Procurement
  • Preparing and compiling contract documents
  • Contract administration
  • Negotiation
  • Management and co-ordination of contractors
  • Controlling variations on a project and reporting variances in costs
  • Preparation and issuing of interim valuations
  • Processing invoices
  • Assist with final accounts
  • Liaising with Contractors and Consultants
  • Working with Project Managers to ensure all actions are met for the various projects
  • Working with Interior designers re their budgets and ensuring these are met
  • Presenting budgets / Cost Plans to the team
  • Produce cash flows and keep them up to date
  • Assist the CM with monthly reporting
  • Assist in the settlement of construction disputes
  • Valuing instructions
  • Visiting the sites regularly


Key Skills, Attributes and Experience

  • Experience of working with construction – strong Graduates will be considered
  • Studying towards a degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • Excellent IT (Word & Excel) skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with colleagues throughout the organisation and externally
  • Willingness to be flexible: the ideal candidate must be happy to work additional hours as and when required depending on the project stage and associated deadlines
  • Multi-task and work under pressure in a dynamic, fast paced and personality-driven environment


About the benefits and rewards:

The salary offered always depends on the level of experience of the candidate and their exposure to the relevant industry sector.  In this instance they are ideally looking to pay up to £30,000 per annum plus learning fees.
