Over 5 years ago a couple of previous business owners reunited to create a new division of the group alongside the housebuilding arm which now has a £10m turnover.  This part of the group would which would undertake contract build works for housing associations and developers and individuals who would both appreciate and require a build service that went far beyond the normal building contractor service. These strengths feed into the new division, allowing them to pass on the benefits to their clients. One is cost, group buying discounts obtained from the housebuilding side can be passed on to clients in the form of competitive tenders. Another is quality of product and people. The Group is continually reviewing construction techniques and can advise on the most cost-effective way of complying with evolving Building Regulations.



About the role:

The Technical Coordinator will be office based, reporting to the Senior Technical Manager and will be working on up to 4 residential developments simultaneously.


The main of this role is to assist the Technical Managers in the control and co-ordination of all technical information between external consultants and internal departments and ensure its timely distribution to commercial and construction to meet the build programme. Typically the Technical Co-ordinator will be expected to undertake the following duties:


  • Attend regular design team meetings with consultants; take and distribute minutes as required.
  • Assist with specification development and review.
  • Ensure consultants working to brief and delivering to program
  • Liaise with consultants during technical design and respond to queries raised
  • Ensure the timely provision of production information to the project team
  • Review and comment on technical information for best value engineered solutions and compliance with the specification.
  • Provide information for discharge of planning Conditions
  • Submit applications for Building Control and discharge of Conditions
  • Liaise with Building Control body to achieve Building Control Approval
  • Submit applications for NHBC Warranties, Robust Detail applications etc.
  • Liaise with Architectural Liaison Officer with regard to Secured by Design Applications and requirements
  • Co-ordinate air testing regime and acoustic testing where required.
  • Co-ordinate information in regard to EPC Certification and issue final certificates upon receipt.
  • Brief specialist suppliers and send out design enquiries to include beam and block floors, floor joists, lintels, trussed rafters, ventilation, plumbing and heating
  • Review and comment on specialist suppliers’ drawings to ensure co-ordination of detailed design
  • Manage and track approval process of specialist suppliers’ drawings
  • Review and comment on Sales Plans/Brochures and Conveyance Plans
  • Liaise with Housing Association relating to technical/ specification issues and compilation of the Home User Guides etc.
  • Respond to site technical queries and attend site project review meetings


This list is not exhaustive and the ability to be flexible and undertake such other duties as they arise to ensure a successful conclusion of the development will be a key skill of the Technical Co-ordinator.

  • A background of working for a design and build contractor
  • Graduate qualified – minimum
  • Degree preferred
  • 5 years’ working experience
