Site Manager – Main Contractor

The Company

Our Client has recently celebrated their 20th year of business, operating out of their South Hertfordshire office. They service works across London and the Home Counties and offer construction, maintenance and facilities management services to their clients. The business has grown from their core services background and over recent years strategically grown their main contracting business. They cover private and public sector new build and refurbishment contracts. Working on buildings varying from high end residential, hospitals to tower blocks, churches to sports halls.  Recent successful tendering has led to a strong order book for 2016which has led the need to selectively recruit for key operational roles within the business.


The Role

Recent Successful contracts have led to our client to winning a new of new build & refurbishment contracts within housing and education across London and the Northern Home Counties.  Projects range between £1m – £5m and the Site Manager will be expected to carry of the following:


  • Direct and manage a team of Site Engineers, Foreman
  • Direct Trades & Sub contractors
  • Oversee site Health & Safety
  • Oversee daily site administration
  • Make management decisions pertaining to project issues with minimal supervision throughout the project
  • Demonstration of strong Commercial awareness
  • Short terms planning of construction
  • Client liaison as required
  • Awareness of budgets and schedules
  • Manage day to day operational duties.
  • On-going efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports and troubleshoot problem areas

Salary/ Benefits

Salary will be in the region of £45,000 – £55,000. In addition to this you will receive a generous benefits package including Car Allowance, Pension, Healthcare, Bonuses. Suitable candidates will have a background in Site Management leading project independently. You will be experienced in management of new build and refurbishment projects in excess of £1million up to £5m ideally with some local authority, residential and commercial experience as well as a good knowledge of finishes. The ideal individual will be highly motivated, idea-driven and capable of exceeding expectations. Lateral thinking and highly developed problem-solving abilities should be coupled with a very strong academic or a trade background with a track record of managing projects.
