About the company

The company that I am recruiting for provides a comprehensive range of civil engineering, traffic management and environmental services with specialist expertise in highways maintenance.  They have been successfully operating across the south of England for over 35 years.

They offer complete solutions for government agencies, main contractors, local councils and other private clients.  From bridge reconstruction to groundworks; drainage schemes to vehicle restraint systems; we plan, build, repair, maintain, refurbish, and recycle through there five businesses.

There people continue to embrace there founder’s traditional values of reliability, adaptability, trust and integrity.  Whilst the range of services they offer has hugely expanded since 1981, there aim continues to be to provide all of our customers with a first class service which is second to none.

About the role

Due to the company rebuilding their commercial team, there is need for a Quantity Surveyor to support the senior quantity surveyor, within the Highways sector of the company. You will be responsible for managing costs with the goal of making as much profit as possible for the company on the projects you’ll be working on and ensuring delivery of payment whilst developing client relationships. The successful individual will be involved in viewing and evaluating payments including site measurements as necessary) and will undertake general surveying of projects as required including reviewing and pricing of variations and preparing valuations with Project Managers and the Commercial Director.

The projects that you’ll be involved in will be heavy civil engineering highways infrastructure and maintenance projects.

No free lances will be considered.

Requirements

You’ll be required to have a good standard of education preferably to Foundation Degree level (HND,HNC) in a Construction , Civils, commercial management or quantity surveying or equivalent qualification.

It’s important to have experience working within highways for a tier 1 or tier 2 company as a senior quantity surveyor and to show good long term stability at the companies you have worked for.

You’ll also need a full UK driver’s license to allow to get from the office to the construction site and to other locations you might require to visit.
