Quantity Surveyor (High Spec)

About the Company:

Our client is a well-respected construction company who build unique homes in exclusive areas across the South East. They develop and construct, with an in house team of designers and planners which enables them to work closely with the client offering a tailored service.  They offer services from land acquisition, through planning and design, construction and aftercare. The design team is forward thinking in its approach and does not stick with one style, they creates homes that work with the environment around it. Projects have recently included a £6m 13 unit development in Berkshire, a new build ‘barn’ style residences in South Buckinghamshire.

About the Role:

Our client is currently looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a solid permanent work background, having worked with main contractors/Developer on prime residential builds. The role requires a commercially aware individual to help to deliver their projects. It is essential that you have knowledge of building processes within the main contract building environment typically covering, residential and high spec projects.  You will be expected to take projects from pre-award tender process through to completion.  You will also be expected to carry out the following roles:

  • Attend site at regular intervals to value works completed.
  • Take receipt of instructions, CVI’s  and daywork sheets from Foreman.
  • Discuss with site team any issues relating to Attendances or Delays.
  • Price Variations to the BQ, revised drawings and specifications.
  • Price Variations from Qualifications, changes to provision of Attendances, expenditure of Provisional Sums.
  • Price site instructions, CVI’s and daywork sheets.
  • Provide detailed rate build ups where necessary.
  • Value delays to the programme & any supplier contra charges.
  • Submit Valuations in Excel format and e-mail to client in line with schedule of valuation dates.
  • Periodically line up costs to check interim profitability.
  • Agree valuations with  the client/clients Q.S
  • Chase payment with accounts depts. to ensure received in line with agreed payment terms.
  • Produce figures for monthly cost value reconciliation on each project.
  • Submit final account on completion of project.
  • Attend final account meetings as necessary and agree account; produce final CVR
  • Chase retentions when due.

The client is looking for someone with a proven history working on high specification residential refurbishments. It would be preferable that you have a formal construction degree / qualification in Quantity Surveying. Our client wants someone that client facing, has the ability to communicate with client team & Architects and the ability to work on more than one project at any time.
