About the Company.

My Client is a leading sub-contractor who specialise in high profile and high spec Carpentry & Joinery projects throughout London & the South East. They have been operating since 1997, and have gone from strength to strength with progressive growth throughout the past two decades. This company deliver first and second fix carpentry solutions to a loyal client base, who can attribute to their quality of delivery.  They work in multiple sectors, covering Refurbishment and new build on Commercial, Residential, Education, Healthcare and Hotel & leisure projects with package values in excess of £1m. This business have steady growth planned over the next 5 years, and are in turn looking to recruit a couple of select staff members to support the business’s progression.

About the Role:

My client are seeking a well-established, project level Quantity Surveyor to work on projects upcoming Carpentry & Joinery Projects due to land in the New Year this position will be based in a small commercial team working underneath a Commercial Director and Manager covering multiple first and second fix Carpentry and Joinery projects in and around London. The working environment is very friendly and enjoyable to be a part of which is reflected in the remarkably low staff turnover.   Your role will include but not be limited to:

  • Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client
  • Assisting in establishing a client’s requirements and undertaking feasibility studies
  • Performing risk and value management and cost control
  • Advising on procurement strategy
  • Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks
  • Preparing and analysing costings for tenders
  • Allocating work to subcontractors

Experience of working on Carpentry and Joinery projects is essential, ideally having spent over 5 years with a rival specialist contractor in a quantity Surveying role.  The perfect candidate will be degree qualified and will have experience of estimating, although this is not essential. The successful candidate for this role must be trustworthy, reliable, conscientious and keen to progress their career further. You will also have to be a highly motivated individual and a strong team player.  A consistent employment record is essential with at least two years at each employer.
