Quantity Surveyor – Construction Management

About the Company:

Our client was formed in the 1930’s and has continued to expand their business throughout a tough economic climate. They are well known within the construction industry for the specialist sectors that they work in, these sectors includes Pharmaceutical, Industrial, Manufacturing and Universities. Our client has recently attained the ROSPA Gold award for excellent performance on Health & Safety. Some of their well-known clients are Cadbury, Eli Lilly, Cancer Research and AstraZeneca.

About the Role:

Our client is currently looking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor who will be directly accountable to the company Directors for the success of their projects and responsible to the client. You will be expected to take projects from pre-award tender process through to completion, due to the technical nature of the projects a prevalent knowledge of complex M&E packages will be required. There will be logical, transparent benefits with the development of this role as the success of the business stream develops.   • Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client
  • Undertaking costs analysis for repair and maintenance project work
  • Assisting in establishing a client’s requirements and undertaking feasibility studies
  • Performing risk and value management and cost control
  • Advising on procurement strategy
  • Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks
  • Preparing and analysing costings for tenders
  • Allocating work and closely monitor subcontractors

Package:

The base package is circa £50,000 – £65,000 and the company’s main ambition is to bring an individual into the organisation with the ability to grow and become a valued member of the team. There will also be a benefits package in addition the basic salary including car allowance, pension and healthcare.

Requirements:

The suitable candidate will have extensive experience in managing complex pharmaceutical and industrial projects and have experience working for a main contractor or in construction management. The ideal candidate will have at least  5 years’ experience and will be able to oversee a small commercial team. Candidates should be able to demonstrate successful commercial management with the ability to work without support or supervision.
