Quantity Surveyor / Buyer – Residential Developer
Salary – Up to £60,000 (Depending on Experience) + Car/Allowance, Health, Life etc.

About the Role:

You will be responsible for the financial control of up to three contracts from inception to completion in accordance with company policies. The role includes all commercial duties associated with the construction of sheltered/retirement accommodation and you will have a certain amount of freedom of action and will be expected to use your initiative and experience to ensure the best outcome at all times.

  • Preparation of construction budgets within a given timescale using a COINS OA software system.
  • Measuring drawings, taking off quantities, preparing schedules, estimates and other working documents. This requires the ability to read and understand architect drawings, specification documents and standard detail drawings.
  • Sourcing of suitable subcontractors / suppliers and issuing tender enquiry documents.
  • Appraising tenders and negotiating proposed order values.
  • Creating and issuing subcontractor contracts using the CRL standard form of contract.
  • Material procurement of all required items.
  • Managing monthly subcontractor payments.
  • Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reporting
  • Agreement of subcontractor final accounts upon completion of the contract..
  • Resolving contractual disputes that may arise.
  • Attending regular construction and pre-budget meetings.


Candidate Requirements:

  • Must have at least 5 years recent, solid experience as a Quantity Surveyor
  • You must have an industry relevant minimum HNC or equivalent and a related professional body membership is desirable (RICS / MOICB)
  • Knowledge of COINS OA would be highly beneficial
  • Must have experience in measuring drawings, preparing bills of quantities and using standard surveying techniques
