Quantity Surveyor – NW London – £40,000 – £60,000

About the Role:

Our client is currently looking for a progressive Quantity Surveyor that has knowledge of the new build and refurbishment processes within the main contract building environment typically covering education, healthcare, commercial, retail, leisure, residential and specialist projects. The individual will be expected to take projects from pre-award tender process through to completion. There will be logical, transparent benefits with the development of this role as the success of the business stream develops. Your duties will include but will not be limited to:

  • Analyse returned tender and recommend the most commercially viable contractor
  • Attend pre start, specification and any other relevant concept meeting as required
  • Sub-contract tendering and procurement to meet required deadlines
  • Responsible for subcontractor payments, variation orders and day works and settlement of final accounts
  • Monitoring and explaining cost movements.
  • Take specifications and drawings from Construction handover and prepare suitable packages for tender.
  • Undertake monthly cost reports and estimate future likely cost expenditure.
  • Report on savings and excesses against budget costs to the Managing Surveyor/Commercial Director.
  • Be aware of all codes of practice that impact on surveying e.g. Building Regulations, NHBC requirements, HSE etc.
  • Monitor, reconcile and recharge any costs, which relate to shared cost items with either other businesses within the Group or external Companies.
  • Input and maintain any computer based databases or systems.
  • Any other duties as required by the Managing Surveyor/Commercial Director.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years in a Project QS position within a main contractor. You may have a degree, A-Levels or HNC in a construction related discipline and will have a keen interest in the main contracting sector of the construction industry, be confident, able to build relationships quickly, have strong IT skills (particularly Microsoft Word/Excel) and have a commercial mind set.
