About the company:

Our client has been established for over 25 years and is a well-known contractor based in the Midlands who specialise in traditional demolition, land remediation, strip out and asbestos and dismantling. Throughout their extensive history, our client has been responsible for carrying out works on various landmark buildings throughout the UK with a commitment to safety and quality and their services. Current packages range in value from £500K – £10M and with plans in place for growth over the next 5-10 years, this business is in an exciting place moving forward.

About the position:

Due to healthy order books and company expansion, there is need for a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to support the Commercial Manager in the successful commercial and financial management of projects from point of award through to final account. As a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator, you will be responsible for managing costs with an end goal of maximising the project margin and ensuring delivery of payment whilst developing future client relationships. Key responsibilities will include tracking the financial performance of projects against tender budgets and providing CVR’s and forecasts to the Directors on a monthly basis; procuring sub-contractors, plant and material expenditure where possible; supporting the pre-contracts team at tender stage on projects, cost planning and negotiating terms of contract; analysing drawings and technical documents in order to prepare estimates; dealing directly with clients and their team with respect to valuing their on-going accounts in terms of both measured works and any valuations which may occur; and working closely with Project Manager(s) and Contracts Director(s) to ensure the commercial success of the day to day contracting activities within the region.

Ideally looking for a Surveyor with experience of working on projects up to the value of £5M and exposure to JCT and NEC forms of contract, plus bespoke forms of agreement on occasions.

About the requirements:

In order to be considered for this position, candidates will need to be degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar. Additionally, candidates must have proven experience of working as a Surveyor / Estimator whilst employed by a civil engineering, demolition or construction contractor in the UK. Furthermore, as this is a permanent position, it is essential that candidates are able to demonstrate longevity in the workplace.

About the package:

For candidates at the right level of experience, our client is offering a strong basic salary of £40,000 to £55,000 per annum (depending on how much experience gained), in addition to a car allowance OR company car as well as the further benefits associated with a large, successful organisation.
