Project Quantity Surveyor – Residential Contractor

About the Company:

Our client is an established contractor who specialise in internal and external refurbishments mainly across the public sector. They cover private and affordable housing projects thought out London and the surrounding areas. Some of their current projects include a £4M canal side, 30 unit development in Ealing and a 3 story, 15 unit development with a unique design in Harrow.

About the Role:

Our client is currently looking for a project quantity surveyor to join on a permanent basis, initially work across new build traditional and D&B contracts, typically values from £2-10m.

They are looking for someone who has a solid permanent work background and has worked for main contractor. It is important that candidate has a sound knowledge of building processes within the main contract building environment typically covering residential projects. The candidate will be expected to take projects from pre-award tender process through to completion. This is an excellent opportunity for those with the desire to achieve results by hard work and who wish to participate in the future of a progressive organisation.Your duties will include but will not be limited to:

  • Sub-contract tendering and procurement
  • Payment of subcontractors, variation orders and settlement of final accounts
  • Monitoring and explaining cost movements
  • Analyse returned tenders and recommend the most commercially viable contractor
  • Monitor and explain subcontractor cost movements
  • Responsible for subcontractor payments, variation orders and day works and settlement of final accounts
  • Undertake monthly cost reports
  • Report on savings and excesses against budget costs to the Senior Surveyor
  • Forecast final accounts
  • Attend pre start, specification and any other relevant concept meeting as required
  • Any other duties as required by the Commercial Director

The client is looking for someone with a main contracting background, you must be driven and have a hard work ethic.You must also have a structured permanent career. It would be preferable that you have a formal construction degree / qualification in Quantity Surveying. Our client wants someone that is lateral thinking and highly developed problem-solving abilities.
