Project Manager – Main Contractor

The Company

Our client has over 30 years’ experience in private and public sector new build and refurbishment contracts, undertaking contracts in the Education, Health, Industrial, leisure and retail markets. Working on buildings varying from hospitals, school, churches to sports halls and private residences, and their enviable track record is based on expertise, experience and responsive environment. Staff progression and development is important to the company. Recent successful tendering has led to a strong order book through 2018 which has led the need to selectively recruit for key commercial and operational roles within the business. Repeat business is important to the company, as well as successfully tendering. They work throughout London and the home counties, recent contracting include a £3.5m internal and external refurbishment of a listed school, refurbishment works at Queens Club, and a £1.3m office refurbishment in Fleet St.

The Role

There are two Project Management roles available reporting directly to the Contracts Manager, which will initially be based on new build Residential and commercial sites in and around West London. You will be involved with the project from start on site to handover and will be required to interact closely with the client at all stages of the construction process. Our client offers a very friendly and enjoyable working environment which is reflected in the remarkably low staff turnover. Duties will include but will not be limited to;


  • Make management decisions pertaining to project issues with minimal supervision throughout the project.
  • Demonstration of strong Commercial awareness
  • Planning of construction
  • Client liaison
  • Manage and instruct the project staff and ensure duties are completed to the highest standards.
  • Overall responsibility for the completion of projects on time and budget
  • Manage day to day operational duties.
  • Ongoing efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports and troubleshoot problem areas
  • Build, grow and develop business relationships for the success of the project
  • Provide feedback and record information from the project for continuous staff development.


Salary/ Benefits

Salary will be in the region of £60,000 – £70,000. The company offers a fantastic working environment and will provide the opportunity to progress your career through excellent guidance, support and training.



Suitable candidates will have a strong background in Project Management within the general main contracting sector. A working knowledge of Microsoft Project would be preferred. The ideal individual will be highly motivated, idea-driven and capable of exceeding expectations. Lateral thinking and highly developed problem-solving abilities should be coupled with a very strong academic or trade background and a track record of managing projects.
