Project Manager – Main Contracting

The Company

Our client was formed 10 years ago by a group of highly experienced construction leaders with backgrounds in private and public sector new build and refurbishment contracts. The business now employs over 100 staff, and is growing at a sustainable and progressive rate.  Working on buildings varying from high end residential, commercial, mixed used property their enviable track record is based on expertise, experience and responsive environment. The Role

Our client has a requirement for a Project Manager who will be based on projects within London. The role will be leading a site reporting directly into a Senior Contract Manager. You will be involved with the project from inception through to handover and will be required to interact closely with the client at all stages of the construction process. You will be responsible for new build / cut & carve and refurbishment projects between £10m and £20m within the commercial and residential markets. Your duties will include but not be limited to the following:


Duties will include:


  • The ability to create, and edit programs and follow accordingly
  • A proven record in managing site teams including design team
  • A good understanding of contracts, contract law and the construction act
  • The ability to work alongside the Commercial Manager to ensure the project is profitable
  • Maintaining effective and long term relationships with the customer and their representatives and advisors
  • Implementing and maintaining company strategy and polices for sustainability, health and safety, quality, environmental, training and development
  • Ensuring the project team comply with the company’s business management system
  • Being proactive in the resolution of problems
  • Reviewing methods of working, alternative materials in order to maximise commercial profitability
  • Managing, supporting, mentoring and counselling members of the project team in their personal development
  • Seeking and developing on-going continuous improvement


The position will also require the successful individual to develop and control assigned project staff to establish and maintain highly motivated and dedicated project management teams.


Salary/ Benefits

Salary will be in the region of £70,000 – £85,000. In addition to this you will receive a generous benefits package including Car Allowance, Pension, Healthcare, Bonuses.



Suitable candidates will have a strong background in Main Contracting. You will be experienced in management of new build / cut and carve projects in excess of £10 million and ideally within commercial / residential build in the private sector. The candidate will have top 50 contractor experience. The individual will be highly motivated, idea-driven and capable of exceeding expectations. Lateral thinking and highly developed problem-solving abilities should be coupled with a very strong academic background and a track record of managing projects.
