About the Company:

Our privately owned client is a specialist subcontractor operating in Central London, who work with a variety of residential, commercial and industrial business. Over the years, they have developed into a multi-functional group which successfully cover a number of sectors however the core functions of their business which includes deconstruction, structural alterations, temporary works and piling  contributes £40M turnover to the overall group turnover of £60M.  All of their operational and surveying team operate out of their newly, refurbished central London office, which offers their employees the ability to jump on the train (if not walk) to their sites within 30 minutes. The benefit of this allows complete cooperation across all departments, creating a stream line process and team approach.

At present, our client has secured £25M worth of work for this year, with further workload in the pipeline. With a low staff turnover, this specialist subcontractor rarely recruits and this opportunity has arisen purely due to company expansion and a healthy pipeline of work.

About the role:

Working exclusively, I have been asked to find a Demolition Project Manager who has proven experience of delivering packages ranging in value from £2M to £6M in Central London. As projects are in Zone 1 & 2, strong planning and programming is crucial due to logistical needs and confined spaces.

As a Demolition Project Manager, you will join the company’s existing management team, reporting directly to Operations Manager and will be responsible for the onsite management of a project, ensuring it is managed within time and budget. As a Demolition Project Manager you will have a clear understanding of the value of the contract and its duration and you will have a clear understanding of the client and project expectations and requirement.

Your duties will include, but will not be limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Ensure on time delivery within budget forecasted costs.
  • Ensure all works carried out comply with current H&S and environmental legislation.
  • Ensure objectives are set and performance is measured through appraisals and regular reviews.
  • Prepare and deliver progress reports for external client meetings.
  • Prepare monthly internal performance review reports for Directors taking full responsibility for all operational and commercial elements of the particular contract.
  • Ensure all client expectations are either met or exceeded.
  • Develop and maintain a professional working relationship with the client.
  • Manage productivity of the contact / site team.
  • Take ownership of the Bid Proposal, strategy and complaints in order to meet project forecast deliverables and obligations.

About the requirements:

Suitable individuals will ideally be degree qualified in civil engineering or construction management and will be able to show a strong history from a site engineer level through to management over the last 5-10 years. This experience should have been gained whilst working for a reputable demolition contractor who undertake technical projects throughout London.

Unfortunately, for this position, only individuals who hold a solid background in demolition can be considered.

Regarding software, our client uses the usual Microsoft programmes, standard email functions and Asta Power Project for planning / programming works. Project Managers will be required to use all these tools.

About the benefits and rewards:

For this position, we are targeting individuals looking to earn anywhere between £60,000 – £70,000 per annum however specific remuneration will depend on experience and suitability. Furthermore, there will be a generous package offered in addition to other benefits associated with a large successful company. Individuals who work via their limited company will also be considered and can expect a day rate ranging from £250 – £300.
