With local annual revenues of over £1bn this company is working with public and private sector organizations across the country ranging from large-scale framework agreements to specialist and major standalone projects in excess of £500m. They held a stable output through the recession, and are now focusing on controlled growth, looking to increase business from 1% to 3% of the UKs projects over the next 10 years. They cover numerous sectors of industry including healthcare, education, private residential, commercial, specialist projects, industrial, retail, hotels and a number of other areas with projects ranging from £5m to £1bn.

About the Role:

 

Our client have been successfully appointed to lead a number of projects across a number of sectors including Healthcare, MOD, Commercial, Government Spend, Residential, Pharmaceutical, Further Education, amongst others. Projects are UK wide with a concentration of projects in London & South East. They are currently seeking Project Directors to add to the current team.  This role is a fast track into a senior level role within this construction giant. The successful candidate must have experience of managing major, new build construction projects up to £70m from Bid Stage through to Delivery. A commercially aware candidate is essential for this role, they would be expected to execute the designated projects, to the agreed programme, with the highest regards to Health, Safety and Environmental standards expected by the client and company whilst striving to reach excellence, deliver profit and to improve the business performance overall. The successful candidate will work on a project geographically and logistically suited to their location.

 

The successful candidate would be expected;

 

  • To run with absolute accuracy a project in up to £70m from Bid Stage through to completion.
  • To be responsible for Health Safety and Environment (SHE) on each contract in compliance with current legislation and as contained within the Health and Safety Management System. Where unsure and assistance is required liaise with the appointed Health and Safety Advisor.
  • To plan and manage the project from transfer though to satisfactory practical completion.
  • To develop and implement the Pre-Development Plan.
  • To agree and take total ownership of the commercial strategy for the project.
  • To ensure implementation and actively manage the agreed commercial strategy of the project together with the agreement of monthly finance and production reports.

 

About the benefits / rewards:

 

The salary will be dependant on level of exposure to industry and experience on related projects. The company offers excellent opportunities and offers a basic salary around £85,000 – £110,000. The package will also include various benefits relating to travel, pension and healthcare.

 

Requirements: Candidates must have extensive industry experience, directly relating to Major Projects in excess of £100m and must have worked in similar or higher positions in top tier main contractors. They must be easily able to manage motivate their team. They must show the contractual knowledge to identify risks and opportunities with client and subcontractors and have the ability to programme the works and identify key interfaces, risks and opportunities in the construction process. The successful candidate will be able to show length of service in only a handful of previous companies, and will be able to show vision and drive to progress further within this business.

 

  • Stable Background – Only a handful of previous employers
  • To be degree qualified in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
  • Hands on approach and can do attitude
  • Experienced in setting up and running development projects, preferably in key target markets of Education, Healthcare & Heritage.
  • Understanding of funding and financing routes
  • Experience of working in large organisations
  • Proactive in learning with ability to influence others
  • A good communicator, able to interact with clients in a positive engaging manner
