About the Company:

This privately owned mid-size, high spec main contractor is part of an up and coming wave of companies that have found excellent success in niche areas of the industry. They offer clients industry expertise, professional solutions, and most importantly – results. They mainly work across residential and commercial projects up to £40m, ranging across build, major structural alterations and fit out projects, from brand new, massive super prime residencies, to high spec Cat A & B office fit outs. This business prides themselves on the high quality of their work, and their ability to deliver on their client’s needs – and this is backed by the list of blue-chip and wealthy private clients with whom they do repeat business. The founding board of directors are all industry experts, having come together to start this business from director level roles across a section of top-tier main contractors. They stay hands-on with the business and have a strong input into all live projects giving this company a very tight-knit, family feel.

The recruitment process for this business is one of meticulous detail They only look to take on the very best the industry has to offer. If you’re interested in making a move to a fast-moving, growing, new age main contractor, this business could be the right move for you.

About the Role:

As a growing business, this company are always looking to improve their processes and the quality of their work. With this in mind, their Pre-Construction department is planning to add an in-house 3D visualisation function to their already successful pre-con team. This creates a need for a senior level employee with experience in 3D construction design to join the team. They would work alongside the Head of Pre-Con and Head of Estimating to naturally grow a successful design hub supporting the quality of high-value tenders going out to potential and key clients.

This individual will be working closely with the varying Divisional Directors, learning the ins and outs of a tender request and working from drawings to develop 3D visualisations of projects for proposals and tender submissions. The visualisations will vary from project to project, focusing on specific points of interest that the client has pointed out – from rough 3D renders of the general building plan, to detailed floor layouts with specific and fine detail. Due to the high level of key-client interaction in the tendering process, this individual will need to work with a level of speed, accuracy and confidence, and be well-presented.

In the first instance the individual will be required to work autonomously. Over time the plan will be to grow a team around this person, allowing for faster and more detailed designs to be made available to the business. This opportunity is one with substantial potential for personal and professional development. In addition to this, with little or no infrastructure for this role in place at present, it will be down to the  individual to advise the management team on best practice, including advice on software and processes. This role will, therefore, be moulded around the successful individual.

About the benefits / rewards:

The specific salary will be dependent on the individual’s level of exposure to the industry and experience on related roles and projects. The company offers an all in basic salary to cover income & travel. For this role, the basic salary will range from £50,000 to £70,000. The total package will also include various benefits relating to healthcare and pension as well as entry into a companywide bonus scheme with a high payout.

The perfect candidate will ideally move from a similar role in a rival contractor or have come from a Design Management background within a well-established Main Contractor from a similar market. Career stability will be key in the selection process. My client is keen to land an individual with only a small handful of previous employers. The individual’s experience should cover new build and refurbishment projects ranging from £5m to £40m, with direct exposure to traditional building works, and cat A & B fit out.

  • Stable Background – only a handful of previous employers
  • Hands-on approach and can-do attitude
  • Experience of working on high profile construction tenders relating directly to this type of work
  • Experience of 3D construction design
  • Experience of working in a large construction organisation
  • Proactive in learning with an ability to influence others
  • A good communicator, able to interact with clients in a positively engaging manner
  • Well presented
  • A team player
