New Land & Planning Manager – High Spec Resi/Comm. Developer  

Salary – Up to (but not capped at) £75k + Car/Allowance + Benefits

Location: Northern Homes Counties (Nr. M25)


About the Company:

Our client is collaboration between two unique property investment consultancies whose professional experience dates back to 1968. They work closely with private and institutional clients to acquire, develop and manage property portfolios and investment projects throughout the UK. After five decades of successful ventures they have established a powerful track record across a variety of commercial and residential investment strategies; from new build land developments and tower block conversions to council backed urban redevelopment projects in the capital city. Through a combination of professional experience, strong industry connections and heavy investment in their own market research they continue to deliver results for our clients – leading the market for investments in the UK property investment sector. Currently they are primarily engaged in strategic development projects in partnership with investment funds, trusts and select private individuals.


About the Role:

My client is seeking a New Land & Planning Manager, with experience of planning permissions and land identification and acquisition to assist with their expansion of residential projects across London. The role will suit a candidate with experience of the London Residential and Commercial property market.

  • To head up department for sourcing & analysing of new sites without planning.
  • Agree option and purchase agreements.
  • Work with the Development Team to appraise development opportunities for approval pre and post site purchase.
  • Promote the business to agents, landowners and financial institutions. Maintain a high profile with external property contacts and establish relationships with the main aim to extract new land/development opportunities.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with local authorities, local agents, land owners and other developers within the divisional geographical area, in pursuit of opportunities for the company.
  • Assist with site appraisals; ensure that acquisition proposals are presented, in an objective and professional manner, with required input from other departments before being presented to the Board of Directors.
  • Manage a project portfolio at different stages of development, managing schemes at land/planning stages, through design and construction.
  • Instruct and manage the planning application process from inception to completion in line with our strategic land plan.
  • Ensure the right calibre of staff is recruited in line with the company’s needs and policies as the company grows.


Candidate Requirements:

This role will be primarily based in the northern Homes Counties near the M25, with the opportunity to work from Central London in the future. The ideal candidate will have 3-5+ years’ experience in a managerial role and have experience managing the planning process. The candidate will become the main point of contact between agents, land owners and local authorities.
