Health and Safety Advisor / Manager – RC Frame and Groundwork’s

£40,000 – £60,000 + package  

Projects – Throughout London / M25 corridor

Our privately owned client who is based inside the M25 is a leading name within the construction industry. Their current annual turnover is in excess of £80M and with plans in place for growth over the next 5-10 years, this business is in an exciting position moving forward. As a company they undertake a variety of works including demolition, groundwork’s, enabling works, structural alterations, soil remediation and stabilisation for clients which include Kier, Westfield, Bam Nuttall and ISG. About the position:

Due to the on-going expansion of the company and winning of new projects, our client is looking for an experienced Health and Safety Manager. The successful Health and Safety individual will be responsible for the in the day-to-day health and safety duties which will include implementing the companies’ health and safety policies, preparing method statements, risk assessments and construction phase plans and undertaking site inspections throughout Central London and the surrounding areas.

To succeed in this role you will be expected to carry out the following roles and responsibilities with a comfortable level of autonomy:

  • Work with the H&S Director to to-coordinate the health, safety, & environmental process for the company, ensuring all relevant areas of the business achieve minimum agreed levels of compliance.
  • Ensure all accidents are fully investigated reported to the Health and Safety Executive correctly in consultation with Senior Company SQE Management.
  • Monitor compliance with the company’s H&S policy, organisation and arrangements and hold regular meetings with senior managers to discuss improvements to safety procedures.
  • Provide advice and guidance on health and safety matters.
  • Production of statistical information in relation to SQE performance.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of new or revised legislation and other practical aspects of SQE management.
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of legislation and codes of practice applicable to the company’s business.
  • Review all Risk Assessments and High Risk activities, ensuring adequate control measures are in place.
  • Identify training needs in the area of health and safety.
  • Conduct and arrange any external H&S training in conjunction with business requirements
  • Carry out health and safety audits on site.
  • Promote via the management team, supervisors and HR, the requirement for employees to be informed of their responsibilities and receive adequate training in safety, quality and environmental matters.
  • Review Accident Investigation forms to ensure remedial action and control measures undertaken.

About the requirements:

To be considered for this position, it is imperative that individuals have:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience of working for a  rival RC Frame and Groundwork’s / Civil Engineering contractor in the London market
  • IOSH Qualification
  • Full UK driving license
  • Longevity in the workplace – Holding each previous appointment for a minimum of 3 years

About the salary / rewards:

For this permanent position, we are targeting candidates looking to earn anywhere from £40,000 to £60,000 per annum however specific salary will be defined upon experience and suitability. Furthermore, there will be a generous package offered; travel allowance OR company vehicle in addition to standard benefits associated with a large successful company (bonus scheme, pension, health care, laptop, phone etc.).
