Health & Safety Director

Health & Safety Director

Large Multi-Discipline Contractor

£60,000 – £90,000 + Car Allowance + Benefits

About the Company:

Based on the outskirts of South East London, our client is currently turning over in excess of £75 million per annum, specialising in the fields of groundwork, reinforced concrete frames, demolition and remediation.

Outside of just what they do, this business is remarkably forward thinking and quite often leads the way with pioneering technology and techniques for delivering a better and safer product while all in all, positioning themselves as a top contractor for their clients to work with. They are not focused on driving up turnover and are instead focusing on developing relationships and increasing profit margins by delivering a perfect service.

I have worked with this business for over 10 years, placing people from engineers all the way through to the current commercial director and operations director, so have gained a good idea of how they treat their people. And I think it speaks for itself that we haven’t had anyone choose to leave this company yet! They pay well, promote from within and give people the challenges and support to really make their working lives interesting.

I cannot recommend this business enough.

About the Role:

In line with the ongoing development of the business, we have been asked by the MD to find them a Health & Safety Director that is not only capable of running that existing department, but who is also passionate enough about what they do, that they can help develop the procedures further, helping improve certain areas while also working with the senior management team to carry this forward as the business goes on.

Health & Safety is a big part of construction and our client understands this is not just a ‘box ticking’ exercise and is actually something that should improve quality and overall the results on the job. By reducing risks and limiting mistakes through the careful development of this department, our client can focus on doing what they do well, knowing that their people are safe and their clients wishes are being met.

You will oversee a team of other health, safety, quality and environmental staff, but will also be tasked with developing and growing this team as you see fit.

To Qualify:

You will need to be driven and qualified in Health & Safety and will have ideally worked at a senior management level before.

In a perfect world you will have worked for a rival contractor, but this is not crucial. As long as you have worked in construction and have the passion for this area / department of works.
