About the company

Our Client is a tier one main contractor who is currently operating with a turnover of £20 billion. They have offices worldwide; in the UK, their head office is based in the West Country and they have local depots based in London, the West Midlands and Yorkshire. Despite having an overall specialism in rail, they also have teams that specialise in highways infrastructure, tunnelling, energy, bridges and structures.

About the role

The company are looking for an estimator to join their rail team in Swindon. They’re looking for somebody who’s interested in a long-term job and willing to progress their career. Ideally, they’re looking for somebody to Co-ordinate with the bid management team to develop a schedule of key dates for individual estimates (enquiries, pricing, and adjudication). You’ll need to price all temporary works as required. Link with design team or other business functions to ensure the completeness. The successful candidate will be involved in attending pre-construction and construction site visits. It’s vital that you’re somebody who strives for continuous improvement within the estimating process and your area of responsibility.

It’s important to note that the all of the projects that you’ll be involved in will range from station fitouts, platform works, platform extensions and station upgrades.

No freelances will be considered.

Requirements

You’ll be required to have a good standard of education preferably to Foundation Degree level (HND,HNC) in a Construction , Civils, Business of equivalent qualification.

It’s important to have experience working within civil engineering as an estimator and to show good long term stability at the companies you have worked for, ideally 3 years per company that you’ve worked for.

You’ll also need a full UK driver’s license to allow to get from the office to the construction site and to other locations you might require to visit.
