This is an exciting opportunity for a delivery focussed Design Coordinator to get stuck into a state of the art Proton Beam Centre project for a fast growing main contractor who are at the forefront of the industry.

About the Company:

This Company are a fast growing Main Contractor who have developed from a regional contractor into one of the industry’s most exciting national firms. With an annual turnover of around £600m and an order book which is fully stocked up for the next few years, this contractor are in their prime and are looking to attract the best talent to support their upcoming work. With a number of large frameworks under their belt, as well as numerous one off projects ranging from residential, commercial and public sector works, the bid team are able to be selective on the projects they tender on, leaving there delivery team with only interesting, well planned, and profitable projects.

With the London market staying consistent, my client are looking to grow their London team out of their EC2 office, covering projects in and around London & the South East.

About the Role:

My client are currently looking a Design Coordinator with strong delivery experience to join an exciting new project in Reading. The project is an £11m Proton beam Centre, which will form part of Reading University’s Thames Valley Science Park, is one of first to be built in the UK and will require a well experienced design coordinator. The candidate will assist with/manage the design process in order to develop a design compliant with all contract requirements and in the most cost effective way. All information will be fully coordinated in order to deliver the project on time, within budget and to meet the client requirements.

The Project is a Traditional Contract, so experience managing Contractor Design Portions (CDP) & RFI’s is essential. My client are keen to find someone with strong technical knowledge and will offer the opportunity to progress within the business during and after this project.

About the benefits / rewards: The salary will be dependent on level of exposure to industry and experience on related projects. The company offers excellent opportunities and offers a basic salary around £35,000 – £45,000. The package will also include various benefits relating to travel and healthcare.

Requirements: Candidates must have a strong knowledge of the design process, at commercial design stage within a Main Contractor, and show a good all round technical knowledge.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage consultant’s scope and budgets. Proven experience of managing design on within a similar environment is a must, with a working knowledge of the UK Building Regulations. The perfect candidate will mixed project experience, having worked on either Commercial, education or Healthcare projects. They will have a working knowledge of single and 2 stage tendering, design, engineering or construction qualification.
