About the Role:

The successful Planner will work within a small planning department on two large regeneration schemes in London. The successful candidate will initially be based on the largest development within their portfolio with potential to work across different phases within current and future projects. The projects are generally a combination of large residential and commercial, with major civils elements. The challenges include everything from strategic long-term planning with complex logistical arrangements, including coordination of large plant and access arrangements across phases, to detailed shell/core and fit-out planning all in co-ordination with strategic planning and design development. Duties also include:

  • To provide a timely, effective and professional total planning service for proposals and projects/phases typically up to £50m within a specific division.
  • Work independently (within an established framework) on allocated live or future projects.
  • To work on site or at Head Office with the project delivery teams or land / planning teams if earlier in the project lifecycle.
  • Dealing with internal and external clients and advising on a regular consultative basis.
  • Provide full phase programmes, with input into logistic plans, logistic sequence drawings and progress tracking schedules, all developed with project teams and external parties.
  • Monitor construction against client and project team delivery programmes
  • Assist project team with working programmes and sub-contract planning schedules


Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a planner
  • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholder e.g. client and consultancies
  • Knowledge of different construction sequences and methods.
  • Some commercial awareness of the contractual implications of common forms of contract would be beneficial
  • Ability to lead and mentor less experienced team members
  • The ideal candidate will ideally have:  experience working in contracting and pre-contract for a large developer or closely with same (i.e. for a main contractor on large residential developments) and delivered coordinated new build, refurbishment and fit out schemes.
  • They will have had exposure to pre-plan, pre-construction and delivery stages of projects.
