About the company

The company that I am recruiting for are a leading name within the utilities sector, specialising in water, gas, electric and telecommunications. The firm are currently turning over £600M and have over 4000 members of staff, ranging from directors, to site engineers and to accountants. Within the water part of the company they work on water and wastewater infrastructure services from repair to new network build and rehabilitation services.

About the role

Due to the company rebuilding their commercial team, there is need for a Commercial Manager to support the commercial director, you will be responsible for managing costs with the goal of making as much profit as possible for the company on the projects you’ll be working on and ensuring delivery of payment whilst developing client relationships. The successful individual will be involved in viewing and evaluating payments including site measurements as necessary) and will undertake general surveying of projects as required including reviewing and pricing of variations and preparing valuations with Project Managers and the Commercial Director. The projects that you’ll be involved in will be high volume and low valued water projects throughout London and the Home Counties.

No free lances will be considered for this role.

About the requirements

You’ll be required to have a good standard of education preferably to Foundation Degree level (HND,HNC) in a Construction , Civils, commercial management or quantity surveying or equivalent qualification.

It’s important to have experience working within Water for a tier 1 or tier 2 Utilities company as a senior quantity surveyor and to show good long term stability at the companies you have worked for.

You’ll also need a full UK driver’s license to allow to get from the office to the construction site and to other locations you might require to visit.
