Commercial Administrator – Civil Engineering

An opportunity has been created for a Commercial Administrator to join one of the UK’s leading multi-disciplinary railway infrastructure contractors.

As a company they currently operate and offer project expertise in both the heavy and light rail sectors. Their success is unrivalled due to their approach which is founded on working in partnership with their clients to deliver the best solutions for major multi-disciplinary projects.

As a renowned name within Civil Engineering and Rail they are known for being specialists in Electrification, HV power distribution, Signalling, Track construction, renewals and maintenance plus more.

Due to continued tender success they are currently looking to expand their commercial team and as such are in a position where they are currently looking to recruit a Commercial Administrator to provide support the Commercial Manager and Quantity Surveyors.

As the Commercial administrator you will play a key role in the successful running of the day to day commercial aspects and being the point of contact between the client and the project team.

Key Areas of Responsibility & Accountability

·Assist in the management of the day-to-day commercial aspects of contracts

·Provide contractual advice and interpretation to project team

·Support the project team in the review and negotiation of NOC’s and acts as central point for managing Target Cost, NOC, Risk and Actual Cost information

·Input into project financial reporting and change control

·Assist with rigorous financial control of projects, including change management.

·Provide cost management support to the tender evaluation process

·Provide assistance in the preparation of project budgets / forecasts / cash flows

·Provide commercial support to other projects as required

·Maintain and input accurate timely information to meet the demands of the contract


·Previous experience of working for a Civil Engineering Main Contractor in a similar role

·Approachable and polite, Ability to deal with deadlines

·Good influencer / communicator

·Able to assist in commercial management of construction/investment projects

·Successful relevant experience

·Good understanding of the construction / railway industry

·Good negotiation skills

·Understanding of railway and construction industry forms of contract

·Computer literate

About the benefits / rewards: The company offers a basic salary of £ up to £30,000 p.a dependent on experience. In return you will have the opportunity to work with a leading Civil Engineering contractor and work on some of the largest Rail Projects across the UK.

To be considered for this exciting opportunity you must be able to demonstrate a successful track record within a similar role working for a Civil Engineering Main Contractor ideally having worked on a rail project.
