Civil Engineering Quantity Surveyor – Suffolk

An exciting opportunity has been created for a Quantity Surveyor to join a Regional Civil Engineering Contractor who have offices across the Northern, Eastern and Southern Home Counties.

As an organisation they currently operate in a variety of sectors to include highways, bridge replacements, sea defences and emergency repairs.

As a company they offer solution through partnerships and joint ventures schemes with the highest quality organisations. Due to a number of successful tender wins they are in an enviable position with a healthy forward order book for the next 18 months plus. As a result they currently have a vacancy for a QS who could be bases in Suffolk, however there is an option to be based in one of the regional offices for the right person.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

·Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities

·Identifying& developing commercial opportunities with existing clients

·Preparation and management of subcontract accounts

·Ability to achieve cost savings for the benefit of the client/company

·Effective cost management and forecasting for the company

·Working knowledge of contractual conditions (NEC 3, ICE, JCT)

·Lead and manage the Procurement process in accordance with main contract programme

·Responsible for profit & loss forecast, internal and external forecasting (budgets/cash flow)

·Coach & mentor junior members of the commercial team

·Establish & maintain relationships with key stakeholders; agree business requirements

·Responsible for providing quarterly cash flow forecasts for internal financial reporting to senior management.

Due to the complexity of the projects you will need to have a background in working on rail infrastructure or civil engineering contracts with a minimum of an HNC in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.

You will also be commercially astute with a history of working with a Commercial Manager to assist in delivering projects within budget and possess the necessary interpersonal skills to work closely with client and site teams.

About the benefits / rewards: The salary will be dependent on level of exposure to industry. The company offers excellent opportunities and offers a basic salary of between £40,000 – £50,000p.a. and a generous benefits package including car/ allowance, fuel, bonus, healthcare, pension.
