Civil Engineering Quantity Surveyor

A Civil Engineering QS is required to join a leading name within Infrastructure to focus on a number of Projects within Utilities and Power.

As a company they are a National Civil Engineering Contractor with a wealth of experience and are recognised for being one of the leading names in delivering projects across a variety of sectors across London, Middlesex and Kent.

Currently they are undertaking a number of schemes working in partnership with local authorities on a number of projects across the UK. Due to continued success of tenders they are looking for an exceptional Quantity Surveyor to join the existing commercial team and take the lead on a number of projects within Water and Utilities under NEC3 forms of contract.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

·Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities

·Identifying& developing commercial opportunities with existing clients

·Preparation and management of subcontract accounts

·Ability to achieve cost savings for the benefit of the client/company

·Effective cost management and forecasting for the company

·Working knowledge of contractual conditions (NEC 3, ICE, JCT)

·Lead and manage the Procurement process in accordance with main contract programme

·Responsible for profit & loss forecast, internal and external forecasting (budgets/cash flow)

·Coach & mentor junior members of the commercial team

·Establish & maintain relationships with key stakeholders; agree business requirements

·Responsible for providing quarterly cash flow forecasts for internal financial reporting to senior management.

Due to the complexity of the projects you will need to have a background in working on rail infrastructure or civil engineering contracts with a minimum of an HNC in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.

You will also be commercially astute with a history of working with a Commercial Manager to assist in delivering projects within budget and possess the necessary interpersonal skills to work closely with client and site teams.

About the benefits / rewards: The salary will be dependent on level of exposure to industry. The company offers excellent opportunities and offers a basic salary of between £36,000 – £46,000p.a. and a generous benefits package including car/ allowance, fuel, bonus, healthcare, pension.
