About the Company:

Our client is a well-respected contractor specialising in Maintenance. Restoration, high class Painting & Decorating and refurbishment projects with offices in London and North Hampshire. They cover London and the South and have worked on many prestigious projects for a diverse client base including English Heritage, Housing Associations, NHBC & Main contractors.

About the Role:

Our client is in need of an experienced Purchasing/Procurement Manager to oversee companywide materials, plant and fleet to schedule.  This position is vital to play a part in helping ensure profitability of contracts by purchasing the most cost-effective and appropriate materials and supplies are provided.

You will be expected to oversee but not be limited to the following:

  • Negotiating prices and rates for all materials and paint and ensuring they are delivered to site within timeframes
  • Identify potential suppliers and new products
  • Control of all plant hire
  • Responsibility and account management for other company purchases such as stationery and communications
  • Contacting a range of suppliers and sub-contractors to obtain quotes and agree delivery times
  • Dealing effectively with challenges with suppliers and the flow of materials to site
  • Providing any advice and information required for tendering and estimating purposes to ensure that an accurate project cost is provided
  • Preparing and maintaining cost reports in order to maximise efficiency within the business
  • Negotiating and agreeing the most favourable terms possible with suppliers once a contract has been secured.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, health, environment requirements of materials and services

About the benefits / rewards:

In return for your hard work and commitment, our client can offer an excellent remuneration package including a competitive basic salary between £30,000 and £40,000.


The Suitable candidate will ideally have long term experience in working with a sub contractor in the construction industry.  You will be expected to have

  • Strong negotiating & communication skills
  • An aptitude for figures and the ability to manage a budget
  • Able to build good relationships with all kinds of people

The ideal candidate will also be able to commute between the organisations offices in North Hampshire and South West London.
