About the role:

Our client are seeking a commercially minded Assistant Town Planner to support the Planning Team within their Kent office and will be part of a team responsible for large multi-unit residential development schemes across South East London, Kent and East Sussex. The main functions of this position will be to manage the discharge of condition process and clearance of s106 planning obligations, provide support in managing applications through the planning process and reviewing such applications prior to submission, and to assist the land department in the review of future residential land opportunities within the South East.


Skills & Qualifications Required 

  • Required to demonstrate an understanding of the planning system and the procedures involved in the promotion of residential land through the planning process and in the management of planning applications
  • A clear understanding of planning legislation, national policy, and development plans.
  • Need to have knowledge of working through the planning application and discharge of condition process to deliver implementable planning consents and enable a start on site
  • Professionalism and rapport building skills are essential, as the role will involve working with a diverse range of people, including Local Authorities and private sector professionals’ as well as local residents
  • High levels of computer literacy, ability to work under own initiative and being a good team player
  • Hold a current full driving licence
  • The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years’ experience working within the planning department of a local authority or with another regional or national house builder and will have completed an RTPI accredited degree or equivalent qualification.
