The business developed to become one of the biggest plant fleet operators in Britain and established a subsidiary to work in Northern Ireland in 1967. The company specialise in a number of different sectors, such as civil engineering infrastructure projects, earthworks for civil engineering projects, remediation, groundworks and renewable energy.

About the role

Due to the company rebuilding their commercial team, there is need for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the quantity surveyor, within the Highways sector of the company. You will be responsible for managing costs with the goal of making as much profit as possible for the company on the projects you’ll be working on and ensuring delivery of payment whilst developing client relationships. The successful individual will be involved in viewing and evaluating payments including site measurements as necessary) and will undertake general surveying of projects as required including reviewing and pricing of variations and preparing valuations with Project Managers and the Commercial Director.

The projects that you’ll be involved in will be highways and road maintenance and highways infrastructure projects.

No free lances will be considered.

You’ll be required to have a good standard of education preferably to Foundation Degree level (HND,HNC) in a Construction , Civils, commercial management or quantity surveying or equivalent qualification.

It’s important to have experience working within highways for a tier 1 or tier 2 company as a quantity surveyor and to show good long term stability at the companies you have worked for.

You’ll also need a full UK driver’s license to allow to get from the office to the construction site and to other locations you might require to visit.
