About the Role:

The role entails will be to support the Senior QS in all commercial aspects of the project from procurements through to the final accounts.

You must be degree qualified and have 1 – 2 years’ experience from within a main contractor ideally with residential experience. This fantastic role which enables on the job training from very senior and experienced QS who will teach you all the tricks of the trade. The position will allow a full career progression supported by a progression plan.

The Project:

The project is a 45 million pound new build residential scheme for 80 houses and apartments. The site is requiring excavation to regularize the lower ground floor but allowing near level pedestrian access across the podium.

Must have or be studying towards a Bsc or Msc Hons & Quantity Surveying.

Quantity Surveyors Responsibilities:

Responsibilities vary depending on the nature and stage of the project being worked on, but can include:

  • Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client;
  • Undertaking cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work;
  • Assisting in establishing a client’s requirements and undertaking feasibility studies;
  • Performing risk, value management and cost control;
  • Advising on procurement strategy;
  • Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks;
  • Preparing and analysing costings for tenders;
  • Allocating work to subcontractors;
  • Providing advice on contractual claims;
  • Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports;
  • Valuing completed work and arranging payments;
  • Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use;
  • Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations.
