Our client has been established for over 25 years and is a well-known contractor based in the Midlands who specialise in traditional demolition, land remediation, strip out and asbestos and dismantling. Throughout their extensive history, our client has been responsible for carrying out works on various landmark buildings throughout the UK with a commitment to safety and quality and their services. Current packages range in value from £500K – £10M and with plans in place for growth over the next 5-10 years, this business is in an exciting place moving forward.

About the position:

Due to a healthy order book, there is need for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the head of commercials in the successful commercial and financial management of projects and tenders. As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will assist in managing costs with an end goal of maximising the project margin and ensure delivery of payment whilst developing future client relationships. Key responsibilities will include assisting in the day to day tasks to provide further commercial support to both project delivery and estimating teams within the company which can be broken down into the following; Assisting in the prompt presentation for all applications for payment and Final Accounts, including all contractual entitlements / assisting in ensuring that all payments are received accordance with the contract terms, as well as assisting in the preparation and presentation of monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR) and final cost/value forecasts.  The role will also encompass procurement, negotiation and the placing of sub-contract orders; which inevitably leads to  assisting in the financial and commercial management of sub-contracts through settlement if Final Accounts. All tasks need a high level detail and pride in presentation, especially when drafting contractual letters/notices to ensure they are presented in accordance with the contract requirements.

In order to be considered for this position, candidates must have at least 1 years’ experience within a similar role whilst working for a civil engineering and construction contractor in the UK and must also be degree qualified in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management. As this is an assistant level, full training and support will be provided.

About the package / benefits:

For candidates at the right level of experience, our client is offering a strong basic salary of £20,000 to £30,000 per annum (depending on how much experience gained), plus the usual company benefits associated with a leading business.
