Our client is well known for their high quality service for residential and commercial refurbishments and fit outs in new design and conservation work. The company forms a specialist arm of a £80m turnover business and has successfully run in tandem with them for the past 15 years. They specialise in high end residential, commercial refurbishment and alteration for properties throughout London and the South East. Recent projects include Residential refurbishments in Belgravia and Knightsbridge.

 About the Role:

Our client is currently looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to be based on a £7m residential refurbishment in the Kensington area.  At present they are expanding their business and have many new projects coming up and already started in and around the London and South East. Your role will be supporting the Surveying function to ensure that Company targets and objectives are met reporting to senior management.  This represents a great opportunity to join a progressive company as on-going support will be offered to the candidate to ensure they are progressed through the company.

You duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Sub-contract tendering and procurement
  • Payment of subcontractors, variation orders and settlement of final accounts
  • Monitoring and explaining cost movements
  • Analyse returned tenders and recommend the most commercially viable contractor
  • Monitor and explain subcontractor cost movements
  • Responsible for subcontractor payments, variation orders and day works and settlement of final accounts
  • Undertake monthly cost reports
  • Report on savings and excesses against budget costs to the Senior Surveyor
  • Forecast final accounts
  • Attend pre start, specification and any other relevant concept meeting as required
  • Any other duties as required by the Commercial Director

The ideal candidate will have either worked in a Trainee/Assistant Estimating role within the construction industry or be seeking work following the completion of a Construction related qualification. Most importantly the candidate for this role must be trustworthy, reliable, conscientious and keen to progress their career further.
