News from the 2017 CONSTRUCT Day

Two of our RC Frame and Groundworks team – Andrew Jackson and Luc Grant – attended the 2017 CONSTRUCT Day on Friday 6th August. They went along to learn about the new innovations in concrete, network with clients and help celebrate the sector’s achievements over the past 12 months.

For this year’s celebration, CONSTRUCT maintained their five award categories. Details of the awards and winners are below:

Projects over £2.5m – the winner was Laing O’Rourke Construction Ltd for the Two Fifty One Project in Southwark, London. The team were able to implement innovative offsite construction techniques after successfully applying digital engineering, engineering excellence and design for manufacture and assembly skills.

Projects under £2.5m – Getjar LTD won this award for their work at the Royal Academy of Arts, Mayfair, London. They were commissioned to carry out major improvements to the RAA galleries which included two new extensions and a link bridge.

Health and Safety – Judges awarded TFP Ltd the Health and Safety prize for their product – the lightweight and easy to install Tec Dura Voidex Temporary Manhole cover. It provides an ideal solution to temporary manhole voids reducing the risks associated with them on site.

Unsung Hero – this year’s Unsung Hero winner was Stephen May of the Anderson Group. This award recognises individuals who carry out important tasks that are often taken for granted and never reach site ‘celebrity’ status – when perhaps they should.

Young Achiever – This year’s Young Achiever also comes from the Anderson Group – Tom Guy, a Trainee QS Manager. Tom beat off tough competition to win the award, namely Jake Pannell, a Buyer also from the Anderson group who was Highly Commended by the Judges.

Congratulations to all the winners!

Andrew and Luc enjoyed celebrating the success of the industry and having the opportunity to meet up with clients outside of the work environment. So much so, they’ll be back next year!
