Temporary Works Design Engineer

RC Frame And Groundwork Contractor

About the Company

The business has been trading for over 25 years, remains privately owned and is currently turning over around £120 million per annum specialising within reinforced concrete frames, groundworks, basement construction and demolition. They have offices based in North West London and a regional presence in the Northern Home Counties and cover work in the city centre all the way up to Cambridge. Package values vary depending on the works involved but their current largest scheme includes all of their specialist works and is estimated to value around £50 million on one project over the next two years.

Outside of the standard facts of this business, I have maintained a close working relationship with the MD (who is a loyal well-respected individual within this sector) and directors for over 10 years and have seen them double in size and capability in this time. They have a close-nit team that all work well together from directorship level down to the site and what really stands out about them is their ongoing focus to deliver complex projects with real technical capability, rather than just traditional residential frames. They really are a superb company to work for and with. The MD and all the directors really take the time to get to know everyone in the company and continually look at ways to develop people to their maximum potential.

About the Opportunity

Due to ongoing company growth, our client is looking to expand their in-house temporary works team on-site and is therefore recruiting permanently for an engineer to provide design engineering services within the Temporary Works Design Team. Reporting directly to the Principle Designer, you will be competent in the production of temporary works within the RC frame, groundwork, substructure and basement construction sectors and will represent the company at meetings with clients, other professionals and suppliers.

About the Benefits and Rewards

For this permanent position, my client is targeting construction professionals looking to earn anywhere from £60,000 to £80,000 per annum however there may be flexibility on this as the specific salary will depend on experience and suitability. Furthermore, there will be a generous package on offer in addition to the usual benefits associated with a large successful company.

About the Requirements

In order to be considered for this opportunity, you should hold suitable tertiary qualifications and be accredited by a professional body or working towards a full chartership. Additionally, you will have a vast working knowledge of the current ‘Euro’ code design standards, hold a minimum of 6 years post-graduate experience in the design of temporary works within the groundwork & concrete frame sector, and have good knowledge of the use of AutoCAD / 3D Modelling. Chartered candidates would be preferable but would consider the strong experience in lieu of chartered status.
