About the Company:

My client is a well-known and established consultancy currently undergoing a lengthy period of growth. With a turnover of circa £15M my client is well spread out through the UK with 6 national offices in the North West, Birmingham and London and they currently have between 70-80 members of staff ranging from Civil Engineers, Structural Engineers and Geotechnical Engineers. The types of projects they get involved in are predominantly Commercial and Residential build including hospitals, hotels, student accommodations and schools. The projects that they get involved in can range from £2000 – £80/90M.

About the opportunity

Due to company expansion and healthy order books, I am currently recruiting permanently for a Structural Engineer who will be responsible for providing design engineering services on residential and commercial buildings which could include hotels, student accommodation, industrial and retail. The successful Structural Engineer will be accountable for producing stability calculations and complex temporary works designs on RC frames and steel frames. Basic duties include but are not limited to: Structural design of both temporary and permanent designs, able to develop construction sequences in tandem with site team, manage design requirements and resources of junior engineers and draughters where required. In this position, communication skills are essential as the role requires a significant amount of client liaison and also with on-site teams.

About the Requirements:

The successful professional is required to have a good standard of education preferably to Foundation Degree level (HND, HNC or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering and preferably a master’s degree in Structural Engineering. To be considered for this opportunity, you should also have experience working as a Structural Engineer within a Civil Engineering consultancy. It is highly important you have an understanding of RC frames and Steel frames within the Residential and Commercial market and 2/3 years’ experience within a private practice. The role is a permanent position; therefore, no freelancers can be considered. A UK driving license is mandatory for this opportunity.
