About the company

My client is a multi-disciplined, cash-rich, well-known sub-contractor who is currently turning over £90M per annum with projections of turning over £100M in the next year. They specialise primarily within the water (wastewater and clean water) and infrastructure/non-infrastructure areas of civil engineering, with offices in North London, Kent, and on the south coast (this role will be based in their North London office). The company has some of the best staff in the industry working for them, they are very well respected across the utility industry and they’re financially very secure and in a stable position. While the business is looking to expand, they are also keen to maintain its family feel atmosphere, where it’s a fun working environment and everyone, is treated as a name, not a number, with the respect from the directors across the company. This is a contractor I enjoy recruiting for. Over the last 4 and a half years I have placed 3 of their senior managers and all of them are still there and enjoying it.

They are a relationship-based contractor and pride themselves on the quality of the work that they produce. This has led them to have repeat business with Thames Water, holding certain frameworks for over 30 years. On top of this, they have long-standing relationships with Affinity Water, Southern Water, and South East Water and have recently started working with Anglian Water.

About the opportunity

My client is looking to bring a planner on board to join their Civil Engineering team in North London. This is a superb opportunity for somebody who’s looking to work for a well-respected Civil Engineering contractor within a great office environment. The Planning team is small, they have 3 Planners working for the business and they work very well as a team, they’re hard-working, supportive, and very good at what they do.

The role itself will involve planning and coordinating the work allocation to gangs. To ensure all works are delivered to the required contract’s program, achieving contractual SLAs, ensuring efficient planning, utilising full workforce. Ensuring that the client’s/customers’ expectations are met by delivering a first-class service. You will be liaising with teams, supervisors, and Operatives providing accurate information, and job details to enable work to be carried out. You will also be dealing with all requests from the client promptly, efficiently, and courteously and keep the Client’s Customers updated with progress before, throughout, and after the work.

Benefits & Rewards

You will be rewarded with a very competitive salary ranging from £35,000 + 25 days of annual leave. As the company continues to grow there is a great opportunity to progress into a Senior Planner/Lead Planner position in the future. You will be reporting to a Head of Planning, someone who has been in the utility industry for 17 years, she is willing to train, develop and improve someone’s planning capabilities. My client also offers company incentives & voluntary days, giving people the opportunity to meet and get to know people in other departments, they pride themselves on the family atmosphere and the way they look after their staff.
