About the company

My client is a multi-disciplined tier 2 contractor who specialises in highway maintenance, highway infrastructure, traffic management, and the environmental sector. The company is huge on the long-term stability and career progression of its team. This is helped by the repeat business they get in Surrey, Hampshire, Kent, and the South West which is a result of their high standard of work. They operate as a Main Contractor and a Sub Contractor, when they work as a Main Contractor, they deal with clients such as Highways England & Local Authorities When they operate as a Sub Contractor, they deal with clients such as Kier & Balfour Beatty Plc. They are a likable, humble, and honest contractor, they have little in-house politics and they don’t operate in a corporate way either.  

About the opportunity

The contractor that I am recruiting for is recruiting due to the current workload being very busy. The successful candidate will be in charge of using the company’s own health and safety policies and putting them into practice as well as supporting the Health and Safety Manager. You will be preparing your risk assessments and going on-site to make sure everything is safe and that the members of staff who are on-site are following company procedures and legal procedures.

To be successful in this role you will have to show certain skills, characteristics and follow certain duties such as: Making sure that all members of staff are aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities and providing advice when it’s needed. You will be in charge of carrying out accident/incident investigations following the Company procedure and, analysing all data, making recommendations to avoid any reoccurrences. The projects you will be working on will be highways, roads & civil engineering projects.

Benefits and rewards

For this permanent position, we are targeting candidates looking to earn anywhere from £35,000 to £45,000 per annum however specific salary will be defined on experience and suitability. There will be a generous package offered; travel allowance OR company vehicle in addition to standard benefits associated with a large successful company.


To be considered for any of these positions you will be required to have at least 3 years of SHEQ experience.

A NEBOSH general certificate is vital as is a UK driving license to help you go from one site to another if you’re required.
