Setting Out Engineer / Site Engineer

Groundwork and RC Frame Package – Hendon, North West London

£200 to £240 per day

About the Opportunity:

We have been asked to source a Setting Out Engineer / Site Engineer that has a background working on groundwork and concrete frame packages all the way from piling through to final slab pours. The initial project is in Hendon, North West London and is live now so this is immediately available. This is also a long-term role with further sites available in and around North London. Package values will range from £3m up to £20m each. This is a straight forward setting out engineers’ role. We cannot consider assistant engineers who are not capable of setting out without supervision.

About the Requirements:

Suitable professionals will have worked for rival concrete frame & groundwork contractors and will have developed the relevant skills necessary to set out a variety of aspects of groundwork (i.e. drainage, pile caps, foundations, etc) and concrete frame construction. This role will report to a senior / project engineer on site, but it is crucial, individuals can be left to carry out accurate setting out on their own with minimum supervision.

Outside of the above basic requirements include the need to be degree qualified in civil engineering and the sector specific experience of having worked for a RC frame and groundwork business.

About the Employer:

This business is one of my top clients. Having worked with them for the past 10+ years I have seen them develop in both size and capability over this time. They now currently turnover above £100 million per annum, building concrete frame and groundwork packages ranging in value up to £20 million each for a variety of residential contractors and developers throughout London and the surrounding Northern Home Counties. They have a very modern edge to the business while maintaining traditional roots and are still privately owned by the original MD (who is a true gent).

On a personal note, I believe this company is one of the best not only for the projects they help complete but also because of the environment they create. They go that extra mile to not only retain their staff but to truly keep them happy. Small things have been added to the office like a gym that people have access to all day. They have a treatments room where treatments are available to everyone on Fridays free of charge. And with plans in place for a roof top garden and BBQ area, I’d want to work here myself if I had the relevant experience to apply!  They really are a great company to work for to gain great project experience, to develop capability in modern construction techniques and to be part of the values they believe in.

About the Benefits & Rewards:

As a starting daily rate our client is expecting to consider professionals who are currently looking to target anywhere from £200 to £240 per day. This can be paid on a self-employed, direct limited company or PAYE basis. This will be negotiated at the point of interview.
