Our privately owned client who is based in the South East, has been established for over 25 years and is a leading remediation and brownfield contractor in the UK. Their expertise is within the treatment of contaminated soil and groundwater using a variation of chemical and biological processes; however they also offer a full package including demolition and site re-grading.

About the opportunity:

Due to healthy order books throughout the rest of this year and 2021, our client is recruiting permanently for an experienced Senior Remediation Scientist with a minimum of 6 years’ post graduate experience of working in the environmental industry, ideally within the contaminated land industry. This critical opportunity will incorporate a mix of both office and site based working (70/30 split) and you will be reporting directly to the Technical Manager.

At a Senior Remediation Scientist, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Undertaking site visits for auditing, compliance and technical team purposes;
  • Ensuring live sites are compliant with regulatory and project specific requirements;
  • Undertaking and / or coordinating site investigations and remediation works including reporting;
  • Manage sampling and monitoring regimes and junior staff, undertaking these activities to ensure compliance with environmental permits and other site specific requirements;
  • Oversee waste classification assessments and co-ordination with waste facilities;
  • Review of permits, licenses, consents and reports;
  • Preparing and reviewing validation / completion reports;
  • Liaising with clients, external contacts and regulatory bodies when required.

Essential Qualification / Training:

To be considered for this opportunity, professionals must have a minimum of 6 years’ professional experience within the contaminated land / remediation sector and hold a degree in a related discipline with a grounding in contaminated land. In addition to this, the successful professional must have hands on experience of sampling / logging, hold a valid CSCS card and have a solid understanding of UK contaminated land regime. Given the work involved, professionals must have a full UK Driving license to be considered.

Desirable Training and Knowledge:

Remediation Scientists with industry specific training / qualifications – i.e. CLAIRE / WAMITAB will be of high interest and also a professional who is chartered or working towards this.

About the rewards / benefits:

For this opportunity, my clients is targeting professionals looking to earn anywhere between £45,000 -£52,000 per annum, however specific remuneration will depend on experience and suitability. Additionally, there will be a generous package offered in addition to other benefits associated with a large successful company including private health care, bonus scheme and a car allowance / company vehicle.
