About our Client

Our Client is a well-respected name within the Scaffolding industry who works with a variety of Clients predominantly within the London  rail sector such as Skanska an Costain on high profile Cross Rail and HS2 Contracts. With over 40 years’ experience this company have built a business of up to 150 employees split into Preconstruction, Design, Commercial, Operational and Installation departments and have an impressive turnover of circa £15m.

About the Role

The Head of Commercial will be self-motivated, disciplined and commercially astute, taking ownership and responsibility of the commercial requirements of the business. They will establish, shape and drive the commercial strategy and financial reporting to achieve business, project and functional targets. They shall be accountable for the ongoing assurance of any contract requirements from our Customers. They will provide leadership, guidance and support to the commercial and contract management team and will demonstrate a deep understanding of the legislation and contractual conditions governing disputes resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing commercial input for tender negotiations
  • Contract management and administration
  • Supply chain management and administration
  • Document Control
  • Cost capture and control including completion of the monthly, quarterly and yearly trading analysis
  • Responsible for cash management
  • Liaison and negotiation with the Customer’s commercial, operations, and project teams
  • Establishing and maintaining productive and collaborative relationships with key Stakeholders.
  • Implement commercial procedures and reporting
  • Ensure appropriate commercial records are maintained
  • Management, guidance and development of commercial personnel
  • Provide commercial advice to the Directors

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Proven track record in commercial management within construction sector
  • Demonstrable financial and commercial acumen
  • Well-developed analytical, oral and presentation / communication skills
  • A creative, strategic and innovative approach to problem-solving
  • Experience of setting up and/or operating office management systems including filing systems and document control and distribution
  • Extensive experience of drafting effective contractual correspondence
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrable legal, contractual and construction knowledge and experience
  • Confidence and ability to assert influence

Qualifications

  • Full Membership of RICS or a member of other professional bodies or hold additional qualifications
