About the company

My client is a national tier one main contractor within Civil Engineering who are currently operating at a turnover of £300M. They have been involved in some shrewd acquisitions and have brought on other Civil Engineering contractors to bolster their industry knowledge and presence within Rail, M&E & Civil Engineering, the company they took over are operating at a turnover of £40M. They are multi-disciplined and specialise within several different sectors such as; rail, infrastructure, environmental and energy. This client focus on their staff and standard of project delivery and because of their standard of work they have become a preferred supplier for clients such as Network Rail, London Underground and London Overground.

About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing costs across multiple projects, ensuring each is profitable for the Company. You will be involved with the reviewing, evaluation and delivery of payments as well as developing client relationships. The types of projects you will be involved will be M&E, renewals and instillation projects within a rail environment, projects will range up to £4M in value.

You will undertake general surveying of projects as required, which will include reviewing and pricing variations and preparing valuations for the respective Project Manager and Commercial Manager.

The successful individual will be rewarded with a very good and competitive salary ranging from £50,000-£65,000 (negotiable depending on experience) + a car allowance of £5100 and health care.

You will have the satisfaction of working underneath a Commercial Manager & Commercial Director with over 40 years’ experience between them working for Main Contractors within M&E and Rail. This opportunity also gives somebody the chance to progress into a Commercial Manager in the future whilst the company are expanding.


You will be required to have experience working as a senior quantity surveyor for a sub-contractor on the London underground (ideally tier 1 or tier 2 company)

It is important that you’ve shown strong stability throughout your career working for tier 2 companies with at least 7 years + experience working in the sector.
