Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor

Cut & Carve, Concrete Frames, Basements & Groundwork Subcontractor

Middlesex Office

£70,000 – £100,000 per annum + full package

About the Employer:

Established over 30 years ago, this specialist contractor completes a variety of works on inner-city projects including demolition, top-down construction, basements, cut & carve, concrete frames and associated groundworks. Current turnover is around £100m per annum and this has progressed steadily year on year going back over the last decade. They currently complete packages ranging in value from £1m up to £60m each on a mixture of residential and commercial projects throughout the London and surrounding areas.

This business prides themselves on their technical capability. As well as traditional frame and groundwork packages, they are able to take schemes involving complex temporary works, cut & carve works, structural alterations and demolition while working for some of the biggest names in the development and main contract markets. I would highly recommend this business as a polished environment where individuals can grow and flourish while working on some of the best projects in London.

About the Opportunity:

I am looking for a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor that has previously worked for a cut & carve or concrete frame subcontractor (based in or around London) before.

This role will involve the usual commercial management duties (i.e. taking projects from start to final account making sure budgets are maintained and profit levels are maximised while reporting any necessary changes) on cut & carve, reinforced concrete (RC) frame, basement and associated groundwork / foundations packages.

If successful you will report to the company’s commercial director and will be responsible for either one large package (i.e., Cut & Carve, RC Frame & Groundwork value around £20 million or above) or a group of projects (usually around 2 to 5 at any one time depending on values and locations) in or around London.

Individual package values could range from £5 million (smallest) up to £60 million each.

About the Requirements:

The requirements for this role are fairly straight forward;

We can only consider individuals who have experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor for either Cut & Carve or Concrete Frame subcontractors in the UK. Our client only wants to consider individuals from a rival company background.

And due to the technical nature of this role, it is also crucial that all applicants are degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.

About the Salary / Rewards:

For the right person our client is looking to offer a market leading package including a strong salary or rate with added benefits.

If PAYE paid you can expect a basic salary ranging from £70,000 to £100,000 depending on your experience, plus a car allowance, full benefits and targeted bonuses.

If self-employed, day rates range from £300 to £450 per day and you will be covered for travel costs and you will also be given project related bonuses.

How to Apply:

I am more than happy to discuss this opportunity with people over the phone or face to face in a fully confidential manner. This is an incestuous sector and I fully understand the importance of keeping things discrete.

Alternatively, it would be ideal to see a copy of your CV to understand your previous experience and employment. In line with GDPR, nothing will be done with your CV / details until we have discussed the role in detail anyway, but having gained an understanding of your formal past, this may help when we come to talk and discuss the option.

About Me, Your Consultant:

My name is Andrew Jackson and I am one of the founding directors of Cityscape Recruitment Ltd. I have over 17 years of experience in civil engineering & construction recruitment, during which time, I have specialised in the niche sectors of concrete frames, groundworks, basement construction, and demolition.

So, what does that mean for you? It means you won’t be trusting your career to a rookie salesperson who’s just out to place you wherever he/she can. I work with the vast majority of the groundwork & concrete frame businesses in the UK and I can help not only introduce you but can give you up-to-date information on each of them (the good parts and the less positive parts – none of them are perfect, but some are pretty close), helping you make an informed decision so you can take your career forward. I’ve been doing this for a fair while now and I’ve maintained a positive reputation doing what I do because I don’t tell people false truths. I tell them everything I know and then let them choose. My job is to get you the options you want, give you the information you need, and then let you decide what feels right for you.
