About the Opportunities:

Quantity Surveyors are in high demand across the whole sector. Because of this, the surveyors I am dealing with are able to select the best options they want to target and are securing the offers they want.

My process is therefore fairly simple, if you are actively looking or are even if you are just considering your career options, I can discuss with you which contractors are recruiting at your level, we can come up with a shortlist to approach and then progress from there. My goal is to target only companies you are interested in with a view to get you 2-3 offers on the table. From there the hard decision falls to you of which one to accept, but as they say, there are worst problems to have if all of them are companies you like and all the offers are good. To be clear, these are all active roles with companies I have worked with for years that have asked me to source individuals for them. They are not speculative approached.

Whether your preference is to target smaller contractors currently turning over around £30m per annum but are expanding, or if you’d rather target some of the biggest who turn over around £200m, we have options at both ends of the spectrum and in between. Office locations include all of the surrounding areas to London with projects in and around the city, so depending on where you live, we can again tailor the options.

About the Roles:

I am looking for a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor with a background in Groundworks and Concrete Frame construction to work in and around London.

These roles will involve the usual surveying / commercial management duties (i.e. taking projects from start to final account making sure budgets are maintained and profit levels are maximised while reporting any necessary changes) on reinforced concrete (RC) frame packages and associated groundwork & foundation packages.

If successful you will report to the individual company’s commercial director and will be responsible for either one large package (i.e. RC frame & groundwork value around £20 million or above) or a group of projects (usually around 3 to 6 at any one time – again depending on values) in or around London.

About the Requirements:

The requirements for this role are fairly straight forward;

We can only consider individuals who have experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor for either Groundwork or Concrete Frame subcontractors in the UK. Our clients have been very specific that they only want to consider individuals from a rival company background.

And due to the technical nature of this role, it is also crucial that all applicants are degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.

About the Rewards:

It really depends on the individuals level of experience, the level of the role we target and the contractors that we pick, but no matter which of these you fall under, you can be sure we can target improved basics and packages as well as making sure the company, projects and locations are right.

As a guide, the QS’s and Senior QS’s I have been dealing with are securing offers of anywhere from £50,000 to £100,000 per annum or £250 to £450 per day self-employed. Additional benefits will include the usual of bonuses, car allowances and similar but will vary from company to company.

How to Apply:

I am more than happy to discuss these opportunities with people over the phone or face to face in a fully confidential manner. This is an incestuous sector and I fully understand the importance of keeping things discrete.

Alternatively, it would be ideal to see a copy of your CV to understand your previous experience and employment. In line with GDPR, nothing will be done with your CV / details until we have discussed the role in detail anyway, but having gained an understanding of your formal past, this may help when we come to talk and discuss the options.
