About the Company

Our client is a highly-respected contractor within the interior fit out market who pride themselves as an industry leader within fibrous plastering and internal restoration.  Established for over 30 years our Clients reputation and success in project delivery has gained a strong portfolio of high profile clients ranging from Top tier contractors including: Beck Interiors, Walter Lilly and Galliford Try to private work orders for the Royal Households and ‘A list’ celebrities. The majority of their work is predominately London oriented but with strong connections overseas they have completed projects in Qatar, USA and France.

About the Role

Due to our client’s increased workload they are currently looking to recruit an experienced / degree qualified Quantity Surveyor to join the team. This is an important strategic position within the business and offers a direct structured route to directorship. The role is most suited to those who have a genuine passion to work with listed, period and historic buildings.

If you’re looking to settle into a long term role for a bespoke contractor who specialise in a high-end projects working across an array of prestigious properties and grand buildings, then this could be the role for you. 

The candidate will have a Surveying construction background. You will be based in their head office which is located in Chelmsford. Duties will include but will not be limited to:

Quantity Surveying

-Negotiating and preparing Contracts

  • Assist with compiling the documentation required for tender selection interviews.
  • Attend tender selection interviews
  • At pre-commencement stage organise the financial budgets, place sub-contract orders and liaise with logistics’ director for an organised start.
  • Attend the site works including site meetings, assist preparing schedules of variations, co-ordinate valuations, co-ordinate the on-going budget through to final account.
  • Place orders with sub-contractors and specialist
  • Ensure long lead in items are ordered and programmed accordingly.
  • Assist the contracts manager on the overall project to ensure time frames met, budgets or variations adhered to through to a successful financial profit on costs.
  • Submit monthly projected figures and applications to the company manager.
  • Continuously monitor CVR’s.
  • Manage the financial file & correspondence
  • Complete any given project to obtain a financial profit on costs expended.
  • Manage client expectations throughout the project to avoid conflict on financial issues

About the benefits / rewards:

The salary will be dependent on level of exposure to industry. The company offers excellent opportunities and offers a basic salary between £50,000 – £70,000. This is an important strategic position within the business and offers a direct structured route to directorship


  • IT Literate. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Work, Excel and Project).
  • Previous experience and knowledge working with listed, period and historic buildings is preferable.
  • Good knowledge of construction management process and techniques.
  • Degree educated or solid heritage restoration experience
