About the role:

It’s time to get yourself out of town and closer to home with this opportunity to lead large scale residential projects in the Medway area. Our client is seeking a well experienced, capable and driven Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a fantastic team on a volley of newly won residential projects.

They are seeking a commercially astute, experienced professional to commercially support on a number of new-build projects currently in pre-construction and due to go live in the coming months. The 3 separate projects are all for the same client and are all of similar spec, consisting of RC frame residential blocks of mixed tenure ranging from £10m – £20m in value. Two of the projects are purely residential, and the largest of the three also incorporates a retail unit on the ground floor. Each of these Design & Build projects require a full time QS who is capable of running the project with little or no assistance from the regional Commercial Manager.

This top tier experience along with a lean team and solid financial backing give this business and edge when bidding projects, and the flexibility to move and change with the times, something that in recent years the top tier contractors are struggling to do. They work predominantly as a Principle Contractor, but can also offer a range of services alongside their core business including offering pre-construction and construction management contracts as opposed to Design & Build, JV Partner agreements or working as a Built Environment Consultant. Our client works with developers, investors, contractors, product manufacturers and specialist consultants across a range of residential, regeneration, education and commercial projects, to provide a complete construction service.

About the requirements:

Experience of working as a QS within a main contractor is essential. This role will require this individual to be able to manage a residential project in excess of £15m without assistance. With this in mind, if you are applying for this role you must have direct experience in a similar role at the same level.  The perfect candidate will be degree qualified and must be trustworthy, reliable and conscientious and keen to progress their career further. You will also have to be a highly motivated individual and a strong team player. A consistent employment record is essential along with a desire to bed into the business and progress up the ranks.

About the benefits/rewards:

The salary will be dependent on the individuals’ level of experience and is not set in stone. The company offers excellent opportunities and a basic salary of between £60,000 – £75,000 depending on the individuals’ level – plus a generous benefits package. The company encourages promotion for candidates that are enthusiastic and competent. Employees will be promoted at a rate that is comfortable for their abilities rather than within a set company structure.
