ABOUT THE ROLE
This role sits within a high-performing commercial team, delivering complex infrastructure works in the water and wastewater sector. As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of subcontractor procurement and management, contract administration, cost control, and change processes for a major capital programme. This includes upgrades to key water infrastructure assets such as pipelines, trenchless crossings, and related environmental elements.
You will manage junior members of the commercial team and work closely with operations and delivery to ensure accurate forecasting, margin protection and value generation. The role involves administering a bespoke principal contract incorporating NEC elements. A strong understanding of cost tracking, early warnings, variations, and CVR preparation is essential.
REQUIREMENTS
We’re looking for someone with a strong commercial mindset and hands-on experience managing complex infrastructure projects. Key requirements include:
Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or in a similar commercial role within civil engineering, infrastructure, or utilities (water, wastewater, or energy)
Solid understanding of NEC Contracts
Track record of managing subcontractors and delivering cost control on medium to large-scale projects
Proficient in cost forecasting, CVRs, applications for payment, and financial reporting
Experience managing early warning notices and contract variations
Confident mentoring and leading junior commercial staff
Strong communication and negotiation skills
BSc or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel locally across Thames Valley sites
