Senior Estimator – Developer/Main Contractor

Salary – Up to £85,000 (Depending on Experience)

Our client is a responsible developer of new homes and communities. They are also specialists in regeneration and design and build contracting. These are exciting times for the business having the flexibility to adapt to changing housing trends they have an interesting mix of high-rise RC frame London projects and large traditional projects in the Home Counties. With a huge pipeline of work having recently secured a major JV contract with a county council this is the chance to join an extremely stable and profitable business.

About the Role:

Our client is looking to bring on an experienced Senior Estimator from a new build residential background to head up the estimating and cost planning function across the business. Working independently and reporting back into the Commercial Director you will be expected to produce tenders for all aspects of new build RC frame residential schemes up to 150 units as well as larger traditional build family homes in the Home Counties. This is an ideal opportunity to get involved in a well-established privately owned business that is currently implementing a strong growth plan over the coming years to increase output. If you have been in a larger PLC previously and want to get into a business where you will have more influence on the business and interaction with the owners, this is the ideal opportunity for you.

Given my client’s pipeline of work for the next 10-15 years there is certainly room from progression and the chance to take on more responsibility as the role develops.

  • To read and understand the relevant documentation and obtain advice where necessary.
  • To prepare a compliant documents to the agreed time scales in accordance with the company’s procedures.
  • To analysis supply chain and to prepare comparisons, identify strengths, weaknesses and deficiencies and incorporate the best value.
  • To prepare take offs where necessary.
  • Ability to tender work from first principles i.e. to build up tender rates.
  • To attend pre, post and post tender interviews when called upon.
  • To present the ‘best’ net tender to the Directors for their consideration and to allow a Tender to be submitted by the due date.
  • To attend site visits.
  • To attend internal handover meetings where a successful tender is transferred to the production team.

Candidate Requirements:

·Ideally at least 10 years of Estimating based experience

·Experience of both Residential and Commercial development

·Ideally from a Cost Planning PQS background but would consider a Developer or Construction background

·Knowledge of RC Frame based development would be ideal
