About the company

My client is a multi-disciplined, cash-rich, well-known sub-contractor who is currently turning over £90M per annum with projections of turning over £100M in the next year. They specialise primarily within the water (wastewater and clean water) and infrastructure/non-infrastructure areas of civil engineering, with offices in North London, Kent, and on the south coast (this role will be based in their North London office). The company has some of the best staff in the industry working for them, they are very well respected across the utility industry and they’re financially very secure and in a stable position. While the business is looking to expand, they are also keen to maintain its family feel atmosphere, where it’s a fun working environment and everyone, is treated as a name, not a number, with the respect from the directors across the company. This is a contractor I enjoy recruiting for. Over the last 4 and a half years I have placed 3 of their senior managers and all of them are still there and enjoying it.

They are a relationship-based contractor and pride themselves on the quality of the work that they produce. This has led them to have repeat business with Thames Water, holding certain frameworks for over 30 years. On top of this, they have long-standing relationships with Affinity Water, Southern Water, and South East Water and have recently started working with Anglian Water.

About the opportunity

Due to ongoing growth, my client is looking for a Senior Environmental Advisor to join the SHEQ team. You will be working closely with the Head of SHEQ, someone who has over 15 years of experience in the industry which means you will be learning correctly. He is also a professional and likable individual which means your job will be more enjoyable. There are some brilliant long-term opportunities with this position, there are opportunities to progress into an Environmental Manager, then progress into a Head of Environmental position, offering you serious growth and progression. Your day-to-day duties will involve taking a strategic lead in the sustainability strategy for the business, ensuring environmental minimum requirements are met with the adoption and sharing of best practices and lessons learned shared across the business/industry as well as delivering environmental and sustainability training to all levels within the project team. This isn’t just a role; this is a career opportunity for someone who is looking to develop but also looking for an opportunity where they can make a difference and an impact within a business.

Benefits and rewards

You will be working for a cash-rich, forward-thinking contractor who still has a family feel to them. They have a brilliant reputation within the industry which leads to a continuous pipeline of work that will offer you long-term job stability. This is also an interesting opportunity where people will listen to you and you can make a real difference within the company. As previously mentioned, there are some brilliant long-term opportunities with this position, there are opportunities to progress into an Environmental Manager, then progress into a Head of Environmental position, offering you serious growth and progression. You will be rewarded with a competitive salary ranging between £50,000 – £60,000 + a £5600 car allowance. My client also offers flexible working & working from home.
