About the opportunity:

My client is currently looking for a Contracts Manager to oversee selection of large projects in the Oxfordshire area. The specifics of the projects are being kept under wraps at present, but will generally focus around high spec residential projects across Oxfordshire and education projects on the Oxford Colleges. This role will form part of an initiation into the company to line the successful candidate up for a move into a Construction Director role, overseeing a sector of the business at board level. To start with, this individual will have absolute responsibility for 1 or 2 projects, taking them from procurement stage right through to completion with responsibility for the programme, quality, H&S and profit & loss.

The successful professional will be comfortable working as a Construction Director at corporate level, dealing with senior stakeholders of all varieties, as well as coming from a background of number one Project Manager on projects in and around Oxfordshire, ideally with some experience of working on the colleges, who is happy to keep his boots on the ground and be involved in the projects. The successful professional will execute the designated projects, to the agreed programme, with the highest regards to health, safety, environmental and quality standards expected by the client and company, and the financial performance budgeted by the company.

They cover the entire Oxfordshire region, as well as surrounding areas but never reach too far away from their head office and area of expertise. Clients include the oxford colleges and universities where this company have an amazing history of delivering work, private estates where heritage work is undertaken, and high net worth individuals who employ this business to build them their dream homes.

About the requirements:

Professionals must have extensive industry experience, directly relating to high spec residential and education projects, and must be commercially focused. They must be easily able to manage and motivate their team. They must show the contractual knowledge to identify risks and opportunities with clients and subcontractors and have the ability to programme the works and identify key interfaces, risks and opportunities in the construction process.

Experience of leading projects of the same type and scale is a must, with local experience a huge bonus along with a stable career history spent with good, well known companies.

About the benefits and rewards:

The salary will be dependent on level of exposure to industry and experience on related projects. The company offers excellent opportunities and offers a basic salary around £85,000 – £100,000. The package will also include various benefits relating to travel and healthcare.
