Role Purpose

As Buyer/Senior Buyer you will Manage the day-to-day Procurement requirements of a number of Live Sites from commencement to completion. Sites will range from 25 to 300 units and be located at various locations, but generally within 1.5 hours of Head office

Key Responsibilities

As Buyer, you will report into the Buying Manager and will be responsible for the following.


  • Provide a professional, efficient and effective plant and material procurement service, placing orders for Site Specific and Standard items.
  • Support the Commercial functions to provide scheme specific material budgets and maintain bible costs.
  • Analyse tenders upon return to ensure compliant bids are received.
  • Prepare detailed breakdown of build cost included within land acquisition pack.
  • Prepare tender analysis comparing individual tenders against each other and against build cost within land acquisition pack.
  • Prepare tender authority sheet including recommendation to Commercial Manager for placing material orders.
  • Attend pre-start meeting, handover completed procurement pack to site team.
  • Track material cost fluctuations/price increases and highlight any adjustments
  • Keep detailed records and maintain a well-organized work schedule
  • Prepare and contribute to cost reports in order to maximize efficiencies within the business
  • Provide support to Accounts team to ensure prompt resolution of invoice queries / issues.
  • Contribute to the development of improved purchasing processes and procedures.
  • Participate and contribute to regular Supply Chain Team meetings and forums to communicate developments, share good practice and upskill our people.
  • Build excellent supplier relations.
  • Participate in establishing the business as an industry leader in MMC Supply Chain Management.


  • Follow change control procedure.
  • Issue Variation Orders as appropriate.
  • Attend monthly project team meetings on site and report on procurement issues/concerns
  • Attend sites regularly and frequently to aid and support to site staff.
  • Visit sites on a monthly basis to undertake stock on site and then compile stock reports for valuations.
  • Attend monthly Cost & Value Reconciliation (CVR) meetings and report on any cost movements.
  • At all times comply with company policies, procedures and instructions.
